Pattern Mixing?

Okay, I’m just going to come right out and say it.  I’m pattern mixing phobic.  Just. Can’t. Do. It.  Period.  I’ve tried, trust me I have. I look longingly at other blogs filled with wild color and daring mixing and yearn for that talent.  Sadly, I just don’t have it.   Maybe I dropped it somewhere….

This is a weak-kneed attempt at it.  It’s dueling stripes.  The skirt has horizontal and the sweater vertical stripes.  I know the excitement must be nearly knocking you over.  Try not to faint 🙂

I know what you’re sayin’. I feel the same way when I put them on — an instinctive, gut feeling of WRONG. I’ve overruled that feeling with blog outfits but not in real-life. Perhaps that’s okay; maybe we aren’t meant to dress so wildly. If clothes expresses our individuality, maybe this is who we are.

Doreen — you’re funny. I struggle with pattern mixing too. And I’m with Shybiker — I end up with this gut feeling that it’s just wrong.

  3. lol. Oh my goodness, Doreen, you crack me up with your “dueling stripes.” I actually like pattern mixing, but it’s not easy for me either. I go through several outfits before I find one that finally feels right.

  4. I have yet to actually mix patterns myself … It just unnerves me. Seriously. I can’t do it. I don’t think I can do it. No, I can’t do it. It seems too weird. I’m too organized of a person to be able to handle this disorganization.

First, thanks for leaving such a nice comment on my blog! As for pattern mixing, I’m a little shy about this myself, but I’m good mixing stripes with florals. You can almost never go wrong with that combination!

Oh, Doreen, this is hilarious because I threw off an outfit this morning in which I attempted to mix leopard print and some modern-esque circular print that was just wrong! They were in the same color family so I thought ok maybe this will work but nope. I have done the stripe vs. stripe thing too. It feels a little less crazy! And ps you look so amazing in that date night dress!!!!!
