Bailey

This is Ad-man and his dog Bailey.  I say “his” dog, as they were a team when I met them back in 2002.  Soon after date number four they set out on a cross-country journey….just a boy and his dog.

Many very cool places were visited.   They made great memories together and Bailey has peed in more states that most people.  I think the count is 32?!

Ad-man and I bought a house in 2003 and Bailey was just part of the package.  For years now I have referred to him as my “red-headed-step-son”.   But I have grown to love this big goofy fur-boy.

I’m sharing this story with you all because we just found out that Bailey has cancer.  We’re not sure yet just how serious it is, or if it has spread.   I’m going to ask all of you a favor, could you send some good vibes his away – pray, meditate, light a candle, chant…..I really don’t care how you choose to do it.  We could use all the help we can get right now.  Oh, one more thing….go and hug the one’s that you love, we never know how much time we have left.

Aw Doreen — your posts just gave me goosebumps up and down my arms and legs. I’m so sorry for you and Ad-Man. It’s tough. I lost my kitty (Thomasina — she was actually my son’s, and he named her after the Disney movie) last year. We all called her Tommy Girl. She was 18, and the heat of last summer was just too much. And the worst thing was that she just crawled away one day — I think she knew it was her time to go. We did find her, and it was just devastating. Even though she was my son’s, she was really mine. She slept with me. She kept me company. When I would get home from work, she would just follow me around. Anyway, I’m so sorry.

    • Thank you so very very much Kari. Most of us sure have had our lives touch by the love of a non-human companion. They enrich our lives in so many ways. I’m glad you “get” it.

  2. Oh, Doreen, I’m so sorry for you and Ad-Man. I love my puppy Dexter so much and I couldn’t imagine if anything happened to him. I’ve shared your story with my sister and we’re both praying for Bailey.

    • What kind of dog is Dexter? I’ve never met a dog I didn’t like:) Thanks to you and Sis for your prayers. Who knows maybe its just localized and they can get it right off.

Hoping for the best for Bailey and sending ~~~~healing thoughts~~~~~ to that gorgeous dog. He looks so sweet!

How cute is that — your ad man and Bailey travelling around together. Great photos. ((hugs))

    Get well, Bailey!

    • Ad-man and I had just met, so it was just he and Bailey that did the trip. I got daily phone calls and e-mail updates from the road. It was a nice way to build our relationship slowly. After two months I did fly to Florida to meet up for the weekend as they where headed home.

Thanks for the well wishes…. I truly believe in the power of collective good vibes.

    • Thank you so very very much Allyson. He is like our child, and we are going to enjoy him and try to do the very best for him. Your healing thoughts are greatly appreciated!!!

P.S. – I love your thought provoking blog, and am an instant FAN 🙂
